My 5 years journey with dividend

I tried living on 50% of my take-home for six months. Here's what that actually looked like.

Take-home: $4,400/month. Target: spend $2,200, invest/save $2,200.

Month 1-2: achieved by cutting dining out almost entirely, canceling 6 subscriptions, and temporarily pausing my gym membership. It felt restrictive but manageable.

Month 3-4: hit an unexpected $800 car repair. Dipped to 54% spending that month. Adjusted by reducing the 'misc' envelope for the next two months to compensate.

Month 5-6: found a groove. Cooking at home genuinely improved. Social life shifted toward free or low-cost activities. The deprivation feeling largely faded.

Result: saved/invested approximately $12,800 over 6 months instead of my prior average of $6,500. Net worth accelerated noticeably. The lifestyle was sustainable, but I've since settled at about 40% savings rather than 50% — it feels more balanced for the long term.
