Does tablet size matter? My experience switching from 6-inch to 13-inch
The experience of participating in an art exchange or trade — where two artists create work for each other simultaneously — is something I've done several times and want to recommend more widely.
The creative constraint: you're making work for someone specific who has their own aesthetic. You have to understand what they value, which requires genuine attention to their existing work. This attention produces empathy for how audiences receive art.
The creative benefit: you receive work made specifically for you by someone who has paid you the same attention. The work is personal in a way that generalist commission work rarely is.
What I've learned from trades: the artists I trade with have taught me things through their work that no tutorial has. Seeing how someone else solves problems I also encounter is more direct than any abstract instruction.
