MGB appreciation post
My experience with classic car transport across three long-distance moves has taught me more than I wanted to know about the industry.
Enclosed transport is the only acceptable option for a restored or high-value car. Open transport is cheaper and fine for project cars you expect to detail and clean when they arrive. For a finished restoration, the cost of cleaning and detailing an open-hauled car over a long route approaches the price difference.
Get references from the carrier. Not testimonials on their website — actual references from people who have used them recently. Ask specifically about arrival condition and whether the delivery matched the promised timing.
Document the car with photographs before loading. Use a bill of lading with condition noted at origin. Walk around the car when it arrives and note every new mark before signing the delivery receipt.
