Shoutout to everyone who helped me source parts for my GTO
The case for building your own restoration rotisserie: it costs about $400 in steel and a weekend to build, and it fundamentally changes what's possible in a body-off restoration.
Without a rotisserie, you're working around a shell that's either on a stand or on jack stands. Access to the undersides of floor pans, the inner rockers, the frame rails — it's compromised. Blasting and sealing the underside is difficult and slow.
With a rotisserie, you can rotate the body to any angle. You can work on the floor from above by turning the car upside down. You can blast and prime and paint the underside as a single operation. The quality improvement is proportional to the access improvement.
