PSA: Corvette tip that saved me

The first-generation Camaro's front suspension geometry is a strength of the design that is often overlooked in discussions of the car's performance. The double-wishbone front suspension was derived from passenger car practice but allowed significant geometry optimization.

The factory did not optimize it for performance. They optimized it for ride quality and manufacturing tolerance. The result is a car that handles adequately in stock form but rewards attention to the geometry significantly.

Correcting front camber, caster, and toe to purpose-built settings — staying within the original suspension geometry's range, not adding aftermarket components — makes a first-gen Camaro handle in a way that surprises drivers who have only experienced the stock setup. The geometry was there. The factory just didn't exploit it.
