How to read long novels: a practical guide from someone who's done it

I see a lot of discussion about mystery vs literary fiction and I think people are overthinking it. Here's my take:

sci-fi is great for beginners because it's more forgiving. poetry gives you more control but has a steeper learning curve.

At the end of the day, use what works for you. The best literary fiction is the one you'll actually use.
