The grande worker can be placed on any space regardless of whether it is occupied, removing the most frustrating blocking situations in the base game. The Essential Edition also includes better visitor cards and the season structure that the Tuscany expansion introduced.

For groups that want deeper Viticulture, Tuscany World expands the board significantly and adds a new map mode with more building variety. It is a larger change than most expansions make to their base game — genuinely adds a second game experience rather than more of the same.

Viticulture World, the cooperative mode, is worth knowing about even for groups that prefer competitive games. It is mechanically distinct enough to provide a different experience when the group wants cooperation without buying a different title.
