Clue vs modern deduction games

Concordia is my answer when someone asks for a medium-weight euro that rewards long-term planning without punishing new players. The hand management is elegant — your cards are your action options and you reclaim them all when you play the senator. The map creates geographic tension without direct conflict. The scoring system rewards balanced development rather than optimization in a single direction.

The Venus expansion adds a goddess track that creates a new scoring axis. Salsa adds the yellow salt resource and new provinces. Both are worth adding after you know the base game well. Neither is essential from game one.

For groups looking for elegant design in the medium-weight space, Concordia is consistently underrated in modern discussions. It was designed before the current euro renaissance and holds up beautifully against more recent designs.
