The Spirit Island rabbit hole goes deeper than I thought
Wingspan's wetland habitat creates the most consistent end-game velocity through card draw. Birds with brown wetland powers that draw additional cards when other wetland birds activate create a cascading card draw that can fill your hand in a single turn. A strong wetland with four or five activating birds can draw seven or eight cards in one wetland action.
The wetland's strategic role is to fuel the other habitats. Cards drawn from the wetland provide the birds you need for the forest engine and the grassland egg machine. A player who neglects the wetland often finds their card options thinning in the late game when they need specific birds most.
For players building wetland-heavy strategies: focus on brown-power wetland birds that draw cards when activated by other wetland birds rather than birds with pink powers that activate on opponents' turns. The internal activation chain creates reliable card draw without depending on opponents taking wetland actions.
