Introduce yourself — where are you from and what are you playing?

Everdell's game arc has a specific pacing problem in early plays: the first season feels slow, the second and third seasons accelerate, and the fourth season is often too short to execute all the plans you made in the third. Understanding this timing curve is the game's key learning experience.

Residents and constructions interact through the discount mechanic — having a construction lets you place a resident for free. Planning your card selection to take advantage of this interaction is the game's central engine. Early plays you miss the discounts. Later plays you plan the resident chain from your first card draw.

For Everdell players who feel like the game is not quite working, check whether you are taking advantage of the resident discount chain. Players who miss this mechanic consistently underperform and wonder why the game is not as exciting as it looked.
