Ark Nova's break action — which resets your action card positions — is the most misunderstood action in the game for new players. New players take it when they run out of good actions. Experienced players take it to position their action cards for next round optimization. The timing difference produces dramatically different card economy.

The five action cards — Cards, Build, Animals, Association, Sponsors — have different costs based on where they sit in the row after use. Placing your most-used action in position one means it costs least when you need it frequently. Planning your break action around the action card position you want creates a meta-game layer that is invisible until you understand what it does.

For new Ark Nova players: pay attention to where your most-used action sits after each use. When it is in position 5 and you need it often, consider whether a break action to reset it serves you better than the action in position 1.
