Wingspan Oceania changes the food economy more significantly than any other expansion. Nectar is a wild resource that can substitute for any food type but is spent and cannot be recollected, creating a timing puzzle around nectar management. The Australia and New Zealand board adds a continent with different habitat rules that reward different bird selections.

The bird selection in Oceania is larger and more complex than the base game, with more multi-activation chains. Players who own both expansions can create sessions with much higher interaction between bird powers than base game alone provides.

For groups already playing Wingspan regularly, Oceania is the expansion that changes the game most fundamentally. Europe changes the season structure. Oceania changes the resource structure. If you want more of the same, Europe is safer. If you want something genuinely new, Oceania is the choice.
